Guided Study for Credit Recovery

This is an opportunity for a student to retake a course that he/she previously failed with a grade of 60%-69%. Students can earn credit for four semester courses or two full credits. Online Guided Study courses contain all AKS content for which the student will demonstrate mastery before receiving a new grade.

Upon successful completion of an Online Guided Study class, the new grade of 70% or higher is averaged into the student’s GPA and does not replace the previous failing grade.  Failure or the incompletion of an Online Guided Study course will result in the student not being able to retake the same Online Guided Study course again.

Each Online Guided Study course costs $100 per semester course and there is a one-course limit each mini-semester. Counselor approval is required in order to take an Online Guided Study course.

Online Guided Study course grades will only consist of quizzes, tests and the final exams (the performance final exam and either the End of Course Test or objective county exam depending on the specific course requirements). For Online Guided Study language arts courses, short answer and essay assignments can also be expected.

Online Guided Study students may choose to complete daily assignments (e.g., homework) to receive individual feedback from their online teacher but this is not required and these grades will NOT be factored into the course average. Participation in chats is an additional opportunity available to Online Guided Study.
